After university my ambition was to set up my own company supporting elderly people living at home, but first I needed practical experience. Realising this was vital, I worked for Age UK South Lakeland for 7 years before starting my own business 'A Helping Hand' in 2016.
Since then, I have helped many people in Sedbergh, Dent, Kirkby Lonsdale and surrounding areas and have been on numerous courses including dementia awareness and safeguarding vulnerable adults. I now have a small team, handpicked to mirror my ideals.
The team have spent many years working and volunteering in the public sector. Over the years, they have dedicated a good portion of their time to helping others. With this experience, we can help with benefit checks, claiming attendance allowance and applying for a blue badge. We can point you in the right direction for aids and adaptations for the home and offer advice on staying fit and active.
We want to help people in the community retain their independence in later life by offering a friendly and reliable service, enabling them to remain in their own home for as long as possible. We aim to reduce loneliness and isolation by offering support and companionship.
Your satisfaction is our priority and we strive to provide a service we can be proud of. We meet all of our clients to offer a free of charge consultation so we can discuss their needs.
We are very flexible; you might only need us for 1 hour a week or for several hours a day.
